EU right-to-repair rules are now in force: manufacturers must repair, and repair extends your warranty by a year

As of 31 July 2026, makers of phones, washing machines and other covered goods in the EU have to handle repair requests for technically repairable products, and choosing repair over replacement extends the legal guarantee by at least 12 months. A European online repair platform is planned for 2027.
