Charging and storing lithium packs so they last 1,000 cycles
Difficultyeasy
Charge to 80 to 90% for daily use if your charger allows (a Satiator or a charger with a voltage selector); a full 100% charge once a month to balance. Never store full or empty: 50 to 60% for anything over a week. Keep it above freezing while charging (riding in the cold is fine, charging a frozen pack is not). Do not charge unattended on carpet; a metal tray or outside is ideal. Replace a pack that swells, gets hot at rest, or whose BMS cuts out early on a cold day even though it reads full.
A well-treated name-brand pack is still at 80% capacity after 800 to 1,000 cycles. A cheap one abused is done in 200.

Followed along, got it done in about twice the time quoted, but it is done and it works.
Glad it helped.
The "what went wrong" section is the most useful part of this. More people should do that.
Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
This is the kind of post that makes this place worth it.
