Battery charging station: one place for every cordless battery, no more dead packs
Difficultyeasy
Time1 hour
Cost$30
A shelf at eye level with every charger screwed down, a power strip with a timer behind it (chargers off overnight), and a label per slot: DeWalt 20V, Ryobi, Milwaukee M12. Batteries live here, charged, or on a tool, nowhere else. A small bin for "dead/suspect" packs with a sharpie date.
Add a smoke detector above it. Lithium batteries very rarely go wrong, but when they do, you want to know.

I did the same repair last month and your step 3 is where I got stuck. Wish I had this then.
Bookmarking. I have exactly this problem and was about to pay someone.
Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.
Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
Glad it helped.
Upvoted for the safety notes alone.
Yep, same here. The second time is always faster.

Followed along, got it done in about twice the time quoted, but it is done and it works.
