Cold casting: resin loaded with metal powder, cast into a silicone mold, then polished so the metal comes to the surface. Looks and feels like bronze at a fraction of the effort. This tutorial covers the whole chain from clay relief to finished piece.

Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

Small addition: wear eye protection for the part where you pry it. Learned that one the hard way.
