Outboard that died from a season of sitting: carb, impeller, and the gear oil you forgot

Small outboards (2 to 15 HP) follow the same fuel-spark-compression logic, plus two things: the water pump impeller is rubber, takes a set when it sits, and should be replaced every two to three seasons ($20, lower unit off, four bolts). And the lower unit gear oil should be drained yearly; milky means a seal is letting water in. Always run it in a bucket or with muffs, never dry, not even for 10 seconds.
