Predator 212 / Honda GX200 clones: the $150 engine that powers everything
Difficultymedium
Cost$150 to $250
Harbor Freight's Predator 212 (a Honda GX200 clone) is the hobby engine: go-karts, minibikes, log splitters, pressure washers, homemade generators. Stock it makes about 6.5 HP; a $60 stage-1 kit (air filter, header, jet, governor removal, billet flywheel for safety) gets 9+. Do not remove the governor without a billet flywheel. The cast flywheel can grenade above about 5,000 RPM.
It bolts to anything with a 3/4" shaft and the standard 4-bolt pattern. Change the break-in oil after the first hour.

Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
Small addition: wear eye protection for the part where you pry it. Learned that one the hard way.
The embedded video is clearer than the official service manual, which is a little embarrassing for the manufacturer.
Upvoted for the safety notes alone.
Right around what the post says, give or take shipping.
Followed along, got it done in about twice the time quoted, but it is done and it works.
Great find. Did not know this channel existed.
