The classic fix for a hinge screw that spins. Pack the hole with glued toothpicks (or golf tees for big holes), snap flush, drive the screw. Works on cabinet hinges, strike plates, anything in wood.

Can confirm, the cheap part is the one that fails. Replaced mine twice before reading this.
