Tim's "learning to weld? start with stick" argument is a good one: cheap machine, works outdoors, teaches you to read a puddle. His MIG setup video is the one I send to anyone who just bought a 140 amp machine and has no idea what the knobs do.

Small addition: wear eye protection for the part where you pry it. Learned that one the hard way.
