Reupholstering a dining chair seat: the one-hour project with a staple gun
Difficultyeasy
Time1 hour per chair
Cost$10 per chair
Flip the chair, four screws, the seat board comes off. Pull the old staples (a tack lifter and pliers). New 1" or 2" high-density foam cut to the board, a layer of batting, then fabric cut with 3" extra all round. Staple the middle of each side first, pulling taut, then work toward the corners, alternating sides so the fabric stays even. Hospital-fold the corners. Trim, screw the seat back on. Six chairs is an afternoon and $60 in fabric; buying new is $600.

I did the same repair last month and your step 3 is where I got stuck. Wish I had this then.
Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

Upvoted for the safety notes alone.
Yep, same here. The second time is always faster.
Tried this over the weekend and it worked first time. Thanks for writing it up properly.

Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
Right around what the post says, give or take shipping.
The embedded video is clearer than the official service manual, which is a little embarrassing for the manufacturer.
